A mass grave containing remains of nine people have been found in a garden of a home in the former rebel controlled area of Northern Province.
The family stumbled on the grave site when they were clearing the yard of their home in Puthukudiyiruppu of the Mullaitivu district, the police said.
"Remains of nine people have been found so far and the skeletal remains were taken for analysis by the judicial medical officer in the area," Police spokesman SSP Ajith Rohana told local media.
