Concrete bridge section of New Kelani Bridge completed

July 10, Colombo: The work on the concrete bridge section of New Kelani Bridge, Sri Lanka’s first high-tech cable-stayed bridge over the Kelani River at Peliyagoda was completed and the two sides of the bridge were connected today (10) under the patronage of the Minister of Highways Johnston Fernando.

Following the opening of the Colombo-Katunayake Expressway, the linking of the Colombo Capital City with the Katunayake International Airport has resulted in a large increase in the number of vehicles entering the city of Colombo.

President to open New Kelani Bridge tomorrow

Nov 23, Colombo: President Gotabaya Rajapaksa will open the New Kelani Bridge built with the use of new technological techniques and equipment, to connect Colombo-Katunayake Expressway and the city of Colombo tomorrow.

The opening ceremony of Sri Lanka’s first ever cable- stayed bridge will be held on Wednesday 24th November 2021 (tomorrow) at 06.00 pm with the participation of the President, the President’s Media Division said.
