The Government has declared a period of work from home for both public and private sectors starting from March 20 – 27 to contain the spread of COVID–19, a statement issued by the President’s Media Division said yesterday.

“This duration is not public holidays except March 21 and 22.”

Hotlines, help for tourists

The special Tourist Information Centre set up by the Government to help foreign tourists in Sri Lanka, inconvenienced by the Covid-19 outbreak began operations yesterday.

The information centre set up at the premises of the Sri Lanka Institute of Tourism and Hotel Management in Colombo 3, has three hotlines; 0112437059, 0112437060 and 0112437055.

Hotline introduced for tourists in case of emergency

The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority has introduced a 24/7 hotline for tourists stranded in Sri Lanka as a result of Covid-19.

Tourists can contact the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority via the hotline 1912 in case of an emergency regarding the coronavirus, it said.

The Authority further said tourists can also contact the Special Operations Room at the police Headquarters via the hotlines 011 244 4480 / 011 244 4481 / 011 597 8730 / 011 597 8734 and 011 597 8720.

For general inquiries tourists can contact the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority via the hotline 011 242 6900, it added. (Colombo Gazette)

Update 06 : (Decision date 17.03.2020)

All types of visa issuance to enter Sri Lanka has been temporarily suspended.

All Countries/ nationalities

With effect from 2020.03.17 until further notice

Duration of suspension of issuing Visa for the below mentioned countries in update 01 to 04 remains as it is.

Update 05 : (Decision date 17.03.2020)

All types of Electronic Travel Authorizations (ETA)/ Entry Visas, Landing Endorsements, Multiple Entry Visas and Residence Visas already granted will be temporarily suspended and the foreign nationals will not be allowed to enter Sri Lanka temporarily.

All Countries/ nationalities

With effect from 2020.03.19, 0400hrs (Local Time in Sri Lanka) to 2020.03.25 2359hrs (Local Time in Sri Lanka)

Duration of suspension of Visa for the below mentioned countries in update 01 to 04 remains as it is.

All types of visa issuance to enter Sri Lanka and All types of Electronic Travel Authorizations (ETA)/ Entry Visas, Landing Endorsements, Multiple Entry Visas and Residence Visas already granted to these nationalities will be temporarily suspended and those foreign nationals will not be allowed to enter Sri Lanka temporarily.

Diplomatic, Official and Service Passport holders are exempted from this restriction.

Qatar, Bahrain, France, Spain, Germany, Denmark, Netherlands, Sweden, Austria

For two weeks with effect from 2020.03.15 2359 hrs (Local time Sri Lanka)

In Jaffna werden alle Besucher (ca. 150) eines Gottesdienstes aufgefordert, sich in Quarantäne zu begeben, da dort wahrscheinlich eine infizierte Person anwesend war.
