Curfew extended till Tuesday in Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam Districts

Mar 21, Colombo: The Department of Government Information announced that the curfew imposed in the Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam Districts have been extended until 6.00 am on Tuesday (24th).
On Tuesday the curfew will be lifted at 6.00 am and re-imposed at 2.00 pm on the same day in the three districts.

Tourists departing Sri Lanka requested to contact police to arrange transport to airport

Mar 21, Colombo: Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) has requested all the hotels to support tourists, who are leaving the country, with airport transportation. The tourists are requested to contact the nearest police station it they are unable to find transportation to the airport during the curfew.

Coronavirus: All postal services suspended in Sri Lanka

Mar 20, Colombo: Due to the prevailing situation in the country, all postal services have been suspended till further notice, Postmaster General Ranjith Ariyaratne informed.
All parcels and goods received from overseas will be retained at the Central Mail Exchange for the time being and will be distributed once the situation returns to normal.

The ongoing curfew in Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam Districts has been extended till 6.00am on Tuesday (24), the President's Media Division said. In a statement, it said the curfew will be re-imposed at 2.pm on the same day (24) in the three districts. Meanwhile, curfew in other districts will be lifted at 6.00 am on Monday (23) and will come to effect again at 2.00pm on the same day. This will be effective till 6.00 am on Tuesday (24) and re-imposing of curfew in all districts will be notified later. The Government announces that all the liquor shops in the island should remain closed at all times when curfew is lifted. The Police had been instructed to make facilities for the farming community to engage in their cultivation activities without any disruption. Since there are adequate stocks of food and other essential items, the government advices the public not to engage in panic buying. Facilities for transporting these items have been ensured. Also, measures are in place to supply essential food items to where they are required. (Chaturanga Samarawickrama)

Curfew extended in Northern Province districts

Mar 22, Colombo: The ongoing curfew will now be extended to 6 am on Tuesday, March 24 in five districts in the Northern Province in addition to the districts of Colombo, Gampaha and Puttalam.The curfew in districts of Mannar, Vavuniya, and Mullaitivu, Kilinochchi & Jaffna districts has been extended till 6.00am on Tuesday (24).Curfew in these districts will be lifted at 6 am on 24 March and will be re-imposed at 2pm on the same day. People living in 5 districts in the North are prohibited from moving out of their respective districts.

Sri Lanka extends closure of International Airport arrival terminal

- Passenger flights departing from Sri Lanka permitted
- Port operations continue uninterrupted
Mar 22, Colombo: The Sri Lankan government has decided to extend the closure of the arrival terminal at the Colombo International Airport at Katunayake indefinitely to prevent new cases of the Coronavirus entering into the country, the Presidential Secretariat announced in a statement. The departure terminal will continue to be operational. Also flights are allowed into the country to take the departing passengers. All passenger transit operations have been stopped for the moment.

Update: Police arrest 790 for violating coronavirus curfew, seize 154 vehicles

Mar 22, Colombo: The Police have arrested 790 persons arrested islandwide for violating curfew imposed to prevent spreading of coronavirus in the country, the Police Headquarters said.The suspects were apprehended by various police stations in the island between 6.00 pm Friday (March 20) and 5.00 pm today (March 22).

Sri Lanka’s star hotels offered for coronavirus quarantine

Mar 22, Colombo: Several star class hotels in Sri Lanka have been offered to the government to be used as quarantine centers if the need arises.Citrus Leisure PLC has offered its five-star Citrus Waskaduwa to be used as a quarantine center by the National Operations Centre to Prevent Covid-19 on a temporary basis, should the need arise, The Morning reported.
