Coronavirus update: 342 new COVID-19 cases identified Wednesday, total rises to 86,685

According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 342 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Wednesday.
Among the positive cases identified Wednesday are 295 associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster, 05 of the prison cluster and 42 foreign arrivals.

Coronavirus update: 314 new COVID-19 cases identified Saturday, total rises to 87,600

Mar 13, Colombo:
According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 314 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Saturday.
Among the positive cases identified Saturday, 278 are associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster, 03 of the prison cluster and 33 are foreign arrivals.

Covid cluster at a garment factory in Vavuniya: 21 infected at present

Mar 14, Colombo:
Vavuniya Public Health Inspectors say that 21 employees of a leading garment factory in the Vavuniya District have been infected with the Covid -9 virus.
The Vavuniya Public Health Inspectors said PCR tests conducted following the confirmation that a group of employees were infected have confirmed that 21 more workers have been infected with the virus.

The garment factory employs nearly 700 people and the workers have been referred for PCR tests, Public Health Inspectors said.

Coronavirus update: 331 new COVID-19 cases identified Monday, total rises to 88,238

According to Epidemiology Unit of the Health Ministry, 331 new COVID-19 cases were reported so far on Monday.
Among the positive cases identified Monday, 225 are associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster, 23 of the prison cluster and 83 are foreign arrivals.

Travel restrictions may be imposed if required during the festive season- Head of NOCPCO

Mar 17, Colombo:
Head of the National Operations Center for Prevention of Covid-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO), Army Commander General Shavendra Silva states that travel restrictions will be imposed if necessary during the upcoming festive season.

The Army Commander pointed out that the increase in the spread of Covid-19 virus in the country after the last Christmas season has confirmed that people do not follow health instructions properly during such periods.

“After the long Christmas holidays in December, the highest number of Covid infections was found in January and February,” the Army Commander noted.

7 Millionen "Sputnik V"-Impfstoffdosen aus Russland bald erwartet​


Eine Lieferung von 7 Millionen COVID-19-Impfstoffen "Sputnik V", die von Russland hergestellt werden, wird in Kürze in Sri Lanka erwartet.

Das National Operations Centre for the Prevention of COVID-19 (NOCPC) erklärte, Sri Lanka werde die Impfstoffdosen bald aus Russland erhalten.

Die National Medicines Regulatory Authority (NMRA) in Sri Lanka genehmigte im März die Verwendung des COVID-19-Impfstoffs "Sputnik V".

 
Sri Lanka hat fast 22 Millionen Einwohner.
2 Impfungen sind nötig...
Zumal es in Sri Lanka zurzeit auch nicht gerade weiter steil bergauf geht mit den täglichen Impfungen...
Bislang wurde ausschließlich Oxford/AstraZeneca verimpft.

Das Zeug von SinoVac hätte ich auch gerne... würde mir schon reichen.
Peking – Der Impfstoff CoronaVac des chinesischen Herstellers Sinovac hat in einer Phase-3-Studie eine Schutzwirkung von nur etwa 50 % erzielt. Schwere Erkrankungen wurden nach den Angaben in einer Pressemitteilung jedoch zu 100 % verhindert.

Among the positive cases identified Thursday, 278 are associates of the Peliyagoda COVID-19 cluster, 24 are of the prison cluster and 11 are foreign arrivals.

Sri Lanka confirmed one death on Thursday due to COVID -19 raising the death toll from the viral disease to 538, according to health authorities.
The Director General of Health Services confirmed the following deaths caused by COVID -19 virus infection and accordingly the total number of deaths due to COVID -19 infection in Sri Lanka is 538 by now.

Fresh health guidelines for upcoming festive season soon: Health DG​

The health guidelines to be adhered by people during the upcoming Sinhala-Tamil New Year season would be issued in the near future, Director General of Health Services Dr. Asela Gunawardena said today.

He told media that the Health Ministry is currently engaged in finalising the relevant guidelines and hoping to publish them soon.

“People are preparing to celebrate the Sinhala-Tamil New Year. However, they should be mindful of the fact that Sri Lanka is not out of the woods as yet in terms of COVID-19 pandemic situation,” he underlined.

Das Kabinett hat dem Kauf des Impfstoffs aus Russland zugestimmt.

Staatsministerin für Produktion, Lieferung und Regulierung von Arzneimitteln Prof. Channa Jayasumana sagte, dass das Kabinett die Genehmigung für den Kauf des russischen Sputnik V-Impfstoffs erteilt habe und dass Verhandlungen mit dem russischen Hersteller über den Preis und die Menge des Impfstoffs, der nach Sri Lanka eingeführt werden solle, im Gange seien.

COVID-19 cluster found among Sapugaskanda oil refinery employees

Health officials say 441 COVID-19 infected persons have been identified after PCR tests today among the employees of the Sapugaskanda oil refinery, creating a new cluster of coronavirus.

Over the past few days, 1,200 employees of the Sapugaskanda Oil Refinery have been subjected to PCR tests and so far 474 COVID-19 positive cases have been identified, officials of the National Operation Centre for Prevention of COVID-19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) said.
