The dates for the Esala Festival of Sri Dalada Maligawa scheduled

June 07, Colombo: One of the major historical pageants in Sri Lanka, the Esala Festival of Sri Dalada Maligawa is to begin on August 2nd, the Diyawadana Nilame Pradeep Nilanga Dela said.
According to this year's schedule, the traditional "Kap" planting ceremony will take place on August 2. The first Kumbal Perahera is scheduled to parade the streets on the 5th of August.

Historic Kandy Esala Perahera festival in Sri Lanka begins with "Kap" ceremony

Aug 02, Colombo: The historic Esala Perahera in Sri Lanka hill capital of Kandy got off to a start at an auspicious time this morning with the traditional "Kap" planting ceremony under the guidance of Mohottala of the Temple of Tooth, Sri Dalada Maligawa.
The ritual of planting kappas at four the four Devales commenced at the auspicious time of 5.10 am following which, the processions of the four Devales begin.

Final Randoli Perahera of Sri Dalada Maligawa tonight

Wed, Aug 14, 2019, 09:23 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. Aug 14, Colombo: The final Randoli Perahera of Sri Lanka's premier Buddhist pageant, the historic Esala festival, will parade the streets in the hill capital of Kandy Wednesday (14) night.
The final Perahera, grandest of all, will showcase many cultural dances and beautifully decorated bejeweled elephants. The decorated ceremonial tusker carries the Sacred Tooth Relic casket under an ornate raised canopy.
The Perahera will start from the Dalada Maligawa at 8.05 p.m. facing South and proceed along Dalada Veediya, Yatinuwara Veediya, Kande Veediya (Hill Street), D.S.Senanayake Veediya, Raja Veediya and return to the Dalada Maligawa along Maligawa Chaturasraya.

Vielen Dank für das Einstellen der Videos. Im heimischen Wohnzimmer kann ich das sehr entspannt genießen und da wir vor 4 Tagen noch in Kandy waren, kommt sogar die Atmosphäre noch ein wenig mit bei mir an. Ich fand sehr beeindruckend, wie die Menschen und auch Kinder schon vormittags am Straßenrand saßen und warteten, je länger desto mehr gutes Karma...., also für mich war das echt tress
