[h=1]Colombo to Haputale within 45 minutes[/h]
Travel time from Colombo to Haputale will be reduced to 45 minutes when the new domestic airport is built at Sherwood estate, Totalagala, Haputale at a higher of 5,970 feet above sea level, said Transport and Civil Aviation Minister Nimal Siripala de Silva.
Presiding over a meeting held at Badulla old Kachcheri auditorium, Minister de Silva said the project would take time to complete as it involved an environmental impact report, requisitioning land and building an access road, and paying compensation to land taken over for the propose. However if any protest campaign was launched by trade unions against the project, he would consider dropping the idea. Public protests were encountered when the Uva University was built. But after the project was completed, it brought about a vast development and created many employment avenues for the people in the area.

Endlich mal ein neuer Flughafen! :ugly:
