Night Race in Kandy - 17.-18.05.2013

Nach Colombo bekommt nun auch Kandy das "Night Race" . Während der Colombo Night Race gab es nach dem Rennen heftige Kritik.

Nun hat der Stadtrat von Kandy der Ausrichtung zugestimmt und die Jugend aus reichem Hause kann dem Hobby fröhnen.

Auf gehts am 17.05. 2013 und das Spektakel dauert 2 Nächte.

Objections to holding night motor races in Sri Lanka central hill city

A movement in Sri Lanka has raised objections to holding night motor races in the central hill city Kandy and has made representations on the matter to the chief prelates of the Asgiri and Malwathu Chapters as well.
The Foundation to Protect Kandy Heritage has threatened to initiate legal action to stop the night races scheduled to be held in Kandy on May 17th and 18th.

Nun fragen sich sicher nicht nur Medien nach dem Sinn, dieser Rennen.
Vermeintlich will man mit diesen Veranstaltungen auch Touristen ins Land locken, jedoch glauben Kritiker lediglich an den Fun weniger Personen aus dem Dunstkreis der Regierungszöglinge und stellen die sinnlos verpulverten Kosten der Veranstaltung gegen die vermeintlich dafür extra angereisten Touristen aus aller Welt.

Glaubt wirklich irgend jemand, dass diese Rennen auch nur eine Rupie einbringen ?

Sri Lanka's Kandy night race to be held as scheduled on June 28 for one last time

June 24, Kandy: Sri Lanka's Buddhist Chief Prelates of Malwatte and Asgiriya chapters of Siam Nikaya said that they would consent to hold the night motor races in World Heritage Kandy city on the condition that they would not be held in the future and the races would not be held in the roads in front of the sacred Temple of the Tooth.

Ich warte da auf die Formel 1 - Rennstrecke in Hambantota.....
