Wed, Oct 5, 2016, 11:20 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.Oct 05, Colombo: Construction of the second stage of the Central Expressway will begin tomorrow with the laying of foundation stone at Giriulla under the patronage of Minister of University Education and Highways Lakshman Kiriella.
The Central Expressway will be completed in four stages by 2020. The first quarter is from Kadawatha to Meerigama (37.09 km), second quarter from Meerigama to Kurunegala (39.70km), the access road (9.7km) running up to Ambepussa is included, third quarter from Kurunegala, Pothuhara to Galagedara (32.50km) and fourth quarter from Kurunegala to Dambulla (60.30km).

Feb 01, Colombo: The Construction work on the second phase of the Central Expressway from Meerigama to Kurunegala will begin today under the patronage of Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe.
Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe at the invitation of Minister of University Education and Highways Lakshman Kiriella will launch the work from the Alawwa-Giriulla road at Kudagammana at the auspicious time of 10.30 this morning.
The Central Expressway will be completed in four stages by 2020. The first quarter is from Kadawatha to Meerigama (37.09 km), second quarter from Meerigama to Kurunegala (39.70 km), the access road (9.7 km) running up to Ambepussa is included, third quarter from Kurunegala, Pothuhara to Galagedara (32.50 km) and fourth quarter from Kurunegala to Dambulla (60.30 km).

Part of Central Expressway to be opened for public this year

Tue, Jan 22, 2019, 09:46 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. Jan 22, Colombo: A part of the first stage of the Central Expressway will be opened for public within this year, the Road Development Authority said.
The section that is expected to be complete before the end of the year is the Kurunegala to Meerigama segment which is a distance of nearly 40 kilometers. The time to travel this section will take 20 minutes.

Ist das so? Wenn ich mich nicht verrechnet habe, müsste die Durchschnittsgeschwindigkeit dann 120 km/h betragen; ergo das Speed limit auf mindestes 130 bis 140 hochgesetzt werden. Das halte ich für unwahrscheinlich!
Viel wahrscheinlicher ist es, dass auch in Sri Lanka meine Freunde - die Journalisten - Probleme mit dem Dreisatz haben... :gruebel:

July 07, Colombo: The Ministry of Highways says that the construction of the Central Expressway from Mirigama to Kurunegala will be completed by December. The project director stated that 75 percent of the construction work has been completed.

President orders speedy construction of Central Expressway

July 27, Colombo:
President Gotabaya Rajapaksa has directed the Minister of Roads and Highways Johnston Fernando to accelerate the construction works of the Central Expressway project.Construction of the section from Colombo to Kurunegala has been disrupted due to issues relating to the compensation payment process and the President instructed Minister Fernando to provide a quick solution to the prevailing problems and complete the construction of the expressway.

Work begins on another section of the Central Expressway

The Ministry of Highways has taken steps to commence construction work on the segment of the Central Expressway between Pothuhera and Galagedara on Saturday the 19th.

The groundbreaking ceremony will be held on Saturday the 19th at 11.30 am under the patronage of President Mahinda Rajapaksa.

The second section of the Central Expressway includes the 39.70 km distance from Mirigama to Kurunegala.

The length of the second phase of the Central Expressway from Mirigama to Kurunegala is 40.91 km. The expressway, built to minimize environmental and social impact, will bypass urban areas and pass through mainly vacant lands.

The four-lane road from Mirigama to Kurunegala is now known as the most beautiful section of the expressway in Sri Lanka.

Das erste Filmchen war ja wenigstens noch kurz, knapp und mit einigen Infos und Luftaufnahmen ganz gut anzusehen.
