Innocent marchers were brutally attacked by Sri Lanka Police at Colombo Fort 10th Aug. 2005

The protest march against proposed Educational Reforms by the World Bank and the Secretary of the Education Tara De Mel, organized by the Inter University Students Federation, which entered the vicinity of Colombo Fort was unexpectedly attacked by the Police with Tear Gas and Batons. I was entering the Fort Railway Station exactly as it happened, and was able to eye witness the whole scenario, in which the Special Riot Squad (American copy) trained by the Chandrika Govt. to suppress reasonable opposition attacked Innocent marchers who were absolutely un armed.
