Sri Lanka to construct another expressway linked to Southern Expressway

Sun, Jul 6, 2014, 08:02 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. July 06, Colombo: Sri Lankan President Mahinda Rajapaksa, who is also the Minister of Ports and Highways, has approved the construction of a new expressway linked to the Southern Expressway.
The proposed expressway will be constructed to Pelmadulla via Ratnapura from the Kahathuduwa Interchange of the Southern Expressway. The new expressway will be named as the Ruwanpura Expressway.

Sri Lanka Minister reveals the plans for Colombo - Ratnapura expressway

Land acquisition for Sri Lanka's Ratnapura expressway within 26 weeks

July 22, Colombo: Sri Lanka's Project Minister of Ports and Highway Nirmala Kotelawala said that the government has decided to pay compensation and acquire the state and private land within 26 weeks to expedite the construction of the Colombo - Pelmadulla expressway via Ratnapura.

Contract to construct Ruwanpura Expressway to local companies

July 02, Colombo: The government has decided to cancel the contract signed by the previous government to award the construction of the Ruwanpura Expressway to a foreign company and award the contract to local companies, the Cabinet spokesman Minister Bandula Gunawardena said.
Although the Ruwanpura Expressway project linking the Southern Expressway from Kahathuduwa -ingiriya to Ratnapura via Pelmadulla is planned with foreign funds, the implementation of the Project under the local funds has been found to be more beneficial to the country, a cabinet statement said.
