Sri Pada Season begins on Unduwap Poya Day

With the dawn of Unduwap Full Moon Poya Day on December 6 Sri Pada season 2014/2015 will commence and it will end on Vesak Full Moon Poya in May 2015. The government has carried out several development projects in the Sri Pada route and in the Sri Padasthana to provide facilities to pilgrims. The Police has cautioned the pilgrims to avoid bathing in streams and rivers in the area due to several deaths that were reported during the last season. Also the people are advised to refrain from consuming alcohol and narcotics and to avoid taking polythene, plastic and polythene to peak.
