Die neue Regierung will die Todesstrafe umsetzen.
[h=1]Government ready for hangman[/h]The Government will implement the death sentence if the crime rate continues in the country, Justice Minister Wijedasa Rajapaksa said today. Speaking to reporters after meeting the Chief Prelates in Kandy today, Rajapaksa said that Sri Lanka earlier faced a situation where crime was being committed by those who governed the country.
He said that the Executive Presidency was used by the former Government to violate the law and not implement the law.
“The Executive Presidency was used to defend those involved in large scale corruption,” he said.
The Justice Minister said that the new Government has now brought change and the public have been urged to avoid getting involved in criminal activities.
“We will implement the law to the book,” the Minister said.
He said that the Government will monitor the progress after cracking down on crime and corruption for a few days.
The Minister warned that if the advice of the Government is not taken seriously and if the crime rate does not reduce, then the Government will bring back the hangman and implement the death sentence to create a just and free society for all.
