Two trains crash head on in Potuhera

The number of those injured in the train collision that occurred in Pothuhera has risen to 68 with four in critical condition. Two trains have collided head on in the Pothuhera area in Kurunegala.
The trains had collided near the Pothuhera Railway Station.

The accident had taken place at around 8.45 a.m. on Wednesday morning.

One of the trains that had collided was the Rajina train which had been plying from Matara to Vavuniya, while the other express train was plying from Colombo Fort to Pallai.
Thirty- Four persons have been injured in the collision.

The Railway Control Room says that the injured have been admitted to the Kurunegala General Hospital.Stay with Newsfirst for more details...

A train collision in north western Sri Lanka this morning injured at least 70 passengers, the police said.
Intercity train plying from Fort to Vavuniya has collided with the Matara-bound Rajarata Rajina train this morning at Pothuhera, Kurunegala, local media reported.
