Vogelgrippe?!

Inzwischen gibt es 11 bestätigte Infektionen mit dem Influenza-A-Virus H1N1.

Bisher wurden laut Medien 566 Verdachtsfälle geprüft.
The Health Ministry spokesman urged the public to take precautionary measures as the virus - a respiratory infection - was transmitted from person to person through bits of mucous or spit emitted during spasms of coughing and speaking. A clean hanky or a tissue should be used. He also advised the public to wash their hands with soap and water once returning from crowded places. A hand sanitizer could also be used, he said.

Die Zahl infizierter Personen steigt leider weiter.
The Health Ministry yesterday said that 108 out of 538 persons had tested positive for Influenza A (N1H1).

Ministry Spokesman Dharma Wanninayake said that 13 of the cases which tested positive for the Influenza virus, now known as Seasonal Influenza, were pregnant women. About 44 pregnant women were among the influenza patients, he added.

Four deaths due to seasonal influenza had also been recorded so far, said the Health Ministry Spokesman.

Disconcertingly, newspaper reports quoted officials at the Ministry of Health as confirming that the number of influenza cases reported in the months of April and May had seen a marked increase, as compared to previous years, with both influenza A and B afflicting the population. The reports also claimed that persons over the age of 65 and children below the age of two are at particular risk, as are pregnant women and persons with reduced immune capacity, and quoted health officials as urging anyone having a persistent cough, fever or cold for more than one day to seek treatment from a State hospital.
