Hilfe.........

Sri Lanka to import rice
Wednesday, December 17, 2008, 14:50 GMT, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.
Dec17, Colombo: Sri Lankan government has decided to import rice from several countries to overcome the shortage of rice in the local market.
According to the Ministry of Trade Commerce and Consumer Affairs this decision was taken last evening during a food security meeting presided over by President Mahinda Rajapaksa.
The government hopes to import 10,000 metric tons of rice from India, Pakistan, Thailand, and Myanmar.
Minister Bandula Gunawardena pointed out that some traders in the country are making a shortage of rice in the festival season for price gouging.
At the meeting President had directed the Minister to take action under the Consumer Protection Authority Act against those unscrupulous traders.
