Foreign tourists visiting Sri Lanka national parks can pay in dollars for tickets

Jan 04, Colombo: The Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation has made arrangements to start the facilities from this month for foreign tourists visiting the national parks of Sri Lanka, including the Yala National Park, to pay in dollars and get tickets.
The Minister of Agriculture, Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation Mahinda Amaraweera had instructed the officials of the Ministry of Wildlife and Forest Resources Conservation to take this step with the aim of generating dollars for the country’s economy.
Accordingly, the secretary of the ministry, Mrs. Chandra Herath, has informed the minister that the work will be started in the month of January, and steps will be taken to implement the measure first from the Yala National Park.
Meanwhile, the Minister has instructed the officials to immediately start an arrangement to increase the facilities provided to the tourists as there is an increase in local and foreign tourists visiting the Yala National Park these days.
Since the work of two newly built tourist bungalows has been completed, the Minister has instructed to make them available for the tourists soon.
Since visiting the forest is suspended for two hours from 12 noon to 02 pm, the Minister has also instructed to immediately complete the construction work of the resting place that will be built for local and foreign tourists to rest during that time.
