The army, yesterday, arrested two members of the National Thowheed Jamaath (NTJ) who had hidden a cache of explosives at a Muslim Religious Montessori in Madatugama, Anuradhapura.

The suspects were arrested with 168 grams of C4 explosives, detonators and five booklets containing extremist liteature. The explosives were found hidden in a rolled up carpet.

The two suspects are residents of Andiyagama Road and Samagi Road, Madatugama. One suspect is the guardian of the Montessori and the other person had brought in the carpets, police said. The arrests were made after army intelligence received a tip-off.

The suspects and explosives were handed over to the Kekirawa Police.
