Historic Kandy Esala Perahera festival in Sri Lanka begins with "Kap" ceremony

Aug 12, Colombo: The historic Esala Perahera in Sri Lanka hill capital of Kandy got off to a start at an auspicious time this morning with the traditional "Kap" planting ceremony under the guidance of Mohottala of the Temple of Tooth, Sri Dalada Maligawa.
Sri Lanka's premier Buddhist procession, the historic Esala Perahera in the hill capital of Kandy got off to a start today with the first Kumbal Perahera parading the streets.
