Sri Lanka seeks bunker player to sell marine fuel from Hambantota
"What we are looking for is an investor who will develop that industry," Sri Lanka Ports Authority Chairman Dhammika Ranatunga said.
"It has to be a strong player with competitive pricing."
The Chinese built tank farm has 14 tanks with storage for 51,000 square meter of bunker fuel, 23,000 square meters for aviation fuel and 6,000 square meters for liquefied petroleum gas.
SLPA tried to sell bunkers during the last administration, without getting specialist players and suffered massive loss.
"Bunkering is not a core business for the port authority, we are looking with a party who has special ability to do that," Ranatunga said.
