Tue, May 12, 2015, 10:40 am SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka. May 12, Colombo: A report prepared on an investigation into the alleged deforestation of Sri Lanka's famous Wilpattu National Park has been handed in to Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena on Monday.
Secretary to the Ministry of Irrigation, Mahaweli and Environment Nihal Rupasinghe said that the report relating to the special investigation on the Wilpattu incident was handed over to the President. The report was prepared after a tour of inspection in the area, he said.
The Secretary said that the special investigation and the survey relating to the alleged clearance of forest areas of Wilpattu were carried out on the instructions of the President.
