Hallo Jörg, danke für deinen Hinweis, ich habe es auch so verstanden aber doch noch mal per mail angefragt und folgende Antwort erhalten:
Dear
Margret,
Thank you for your interest in the Elephant Freedom Project. We offer a variety of visiting options, from just one day (no overnight), 3 days 2 nights to as long as you like.
Before booking your visit it is important you read the attached freedom pack and the below carefully so you know exactly what to expect when coming to help the elephants and community:
No riding - The Elephant Freedom project does NOT allow elephant riding. Our elephants are our number one priority and we give them the best life we can. Currently we have 2 two young, visibly happy and healthy elephants. During the day they can roam around freely inside their enclosure, go for swims in the river and unchained walks in the countryside. You won’t find this anywhere else in the country.
For everyone - The project is for young and old, families, couples and single travelers. Everyone is warmly welcomed by our fantastic local host family & the team.
Activities at the project - Here you spend lots of time caring for the elephants. This includes feeding, poop scooping, washing, cleaning beds, walking with the elephants, engaging in elephant enrichment games, growing fruits and vegetables and maintaining the project. This can be hard work, but it is tremendous fun and rewarding to be so close with the elephants. In the afternoons you will help the local community and the local disabled home helping English language, arts & crafts and general fun activities. You will learn how to cook real authentic Sri Lankan dishes. All activities are totally optional to participation.
If staying the night - Your shared accommodation is onsite at the family home, next to the elephant enclosure and across the road from the river where the elephants wash and swim. Staying with the family gives you a great insight into the Sri Lankan culture. The 3 basic rooms are clean with bunk beds, Western style toilets and refreshing typical Sri Lankan cold showers. Bed sheets, mosquito nets, standing fan and toilet paper are provided. There are Wifi, a TV, a washing machine, a homely seating area and veranda.
Pricing - For pricing and what is included in the project fee please see
http://www.volunteersatwork.org/en/dates-and-fee/.
Your visiting fee really is a way of giving a donation and seeing, in person, what your donation does for the elephants.
Extra activities - We offer additional Yoga & karate classes at the project and excursions, trips and transport throughout Sri Lanka.
What next - Please kindly confirm your receipt of this email and feel free to ask if you have any questions. To book please complete the form at

I look forward to hearing from you.
Warm regards
JR
