To Everyone who be Travelling from 6th January until 5th April:
Please be informed that Bandaranayake International Airport will be closed from 0830 hrs to 1630 hrs from 06th January 2017 to 05th April 2017 due to runway resurfacing work that will be carried out during this time.
All airlines have requested passengers to report to the airport 05 hours prior to their scheduled departure time to ensure smooth handling at the airport . Kindly note that the check-in counters will be closed 90 minutes before scheduled departure time and passengers will not be allowed to the check-in area THEREAFTER. The visitors are also not be permitted at the lobby area of the airport.

Hallo zusammen,
jetzt verstehe ich auch, warum unser Flug am 26.02.2017 von London um 22:10 (UL1504) einen "technischen Stop" in Male macht. Sie konnten den Slot in London nicht nach hinten verschieben und wären zu früh am BIA gewesen. So vertrödeln wir die Zeit durch einen Umweg und eine Zwischenlandung bis wir dann um 16:35 landen können. LHR-MLE-CMB 12 Stunden 55 Minuten ! Hoffentlich sind genügend Getränke an Bord (natürlich Tomatensaft).

Das ist so ein Schwachsinn mit den fünf Stunden. Das einzige, was damit erreicht wird, ist, dass sich die Passagiere im Flughafen gegenseitig auf den Füßen rumstehen... Mich würden mal Erfahrungswerte interessieren von Leuten, die in dem Zeitraum abfliegen. Ich persönlich habe wenig Lust 5h vor Abflug am Flughafen aufzukreuzen. Klar, die Flüge sind wohl enger getaktet, aber FÜNF Stunden?? Nee, nee, nee. Ich plane 2 1/2 Stunden vor Abflug da zu sein.

Ich habe mir auch mal die FLughafen-Seite angeguckt. Da gibt es umfangreiche Informationen, u.a.:

Ich denke, da wäre das mit den 5h bzw. 1 1/2h (Check-In-Schalter) auch aufgeführt.

Tue, Jan 3, 2017, 08:31 pm SL Time, ColomboPage News Desk, Sri Lanka.Jan 03, Colombo: A special traffic plan will be implemented around Sri Lanka's main Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA) in Katunayake during its three-month long renovation, the Police said.
The special traffic plan will come into effect daily from 3 p.m. to 9 a.m. during the period from January 3 through April 6.
The BIA is undergoing major renovation for eight hours a day for three months from the 6th January for the expansion of the runway. The runway is being reconstructed only after a lapse of 30 years.
The airport will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. till April 6. Flights will use the runway only at the night during the renovation.

According to officials, all flights are to be rescheduled for three months due to runway repairs that will stop flight operations during the day at Colombo airport. "The airport will remain closed from 8.30am to 4.30pm for runway maintenance work. Therefore, during the day flights will be shifted to other times, while others have been cancelled. So it is better to check with your airline before you are flying," a senior official of SriLankan Airlines said, adding that their Muscat-Colombo flight will not be affected, as it lands in the early morning hours.

Nein, das widerspricht sich nicht. Weniger als 90 Min. vor Abflug kommst du nicht mehr zum Check In... so zumindest die Theorie.

@all,
ich verstehe sowieso die ganze Aufregung nicht. Sind wir doch mal froh, nicht in Hambantota landen zu müssen.
Uns stört es nicht bald am Flughafen zu sein. Ob das nun Frankfurt, Colombo oder sonst irgendwo auf der Welt ist.
Wir sind generell immer rechtzeitig dort.
Flugplätze sind interessant und es gibt viel zu sehen. Alleine schon die anderen Fluggäste zu beobachten, hat doch schon mal was
In Colombo kann man sich z.B. noch eine Massage gönnen und durch die Shops stöbern. Tee trinken, lesen und ausruhen.
In Frankfurt im T2 beim McCafe aus dem Fenster die Flieger beobachten und sich einen Piccolo gönnen. So gibt es X Möglichkeiten.
Leid tun mir eigentlich nur die Anwohner in Katunayake, die jetzt monatelang nachts erheblich mehr Fluglärm aushalten müssen.
In Deutschland undenkbar
Wir fliegen am Donnerstag und nehmen es einfach wie es kommt. Dann kann der Urlaub entspannt beginnen und enden.
