After quarantine 288 more returnees go home, 314 sent to Punani Quarantine Center

Apr 03, Colombo: Upon completion of the two-week-long quarantine process, 288 more returnees left the quarantine centers for their homes this morning (3). The group, including 09 Buddhist monks and a nun from Diyatalawa, Rantembe, Kundasale, Bogoda, Periyakadu and Thanthirimale Quarantine Centers (QCs) left for their residences today after completion of medical procedures and receipt of their Quarantine Certificates.

Air pollution decreased by 30 percent in Sri Lanka

The reduction is due to rapid decline in human activities with the imposition of the island wide curfew.

People's Foundation for the Protection of the Kelani River says that the quality of water in the Kelani River has also improved significantly due to the reduction in human activities on both sides of the river.

Curfew to be lifted tomorrow in 19 districts, continue indefinitely in others

Apr 05, Colombo: The curfew currently imposed islandwide will be temporarily lifted tomorrow in 19 districts, the President’s Media Division announced. The week from tomorrow, Monday 6th April to Friday, 10th April has been declared a period of work from home for the public as well as for the private sector institutes. The last week too was a period of work from home. The curfew currently in force in the districts of Colombo, Gampaha, Kalutara, Puttalam, Kandy and Jaffna which have been identified as High Risk Zones in the wake of COVID–19 pandemic will be in effect until further notice.

Police arrest 1,347 people for violating curfew in last 24 hours

Apr 06, Colombo: Sri Lanka Police have arrested 1,347 people in the 24 hours ended at 06:00 am today (06th April), for violating the curfew. The police also seized 312 vehicles for traveling without a permit during the curfew.
