Hallo Armin,

Wenn erst endlich auch der HamUna-Maglev-Train gebaut ist seid ihr mit einem Fly&Rail-Ticket (gibt es bei Sri Lankan, Emirates und einigen chinesischen Airlines bereits als Gutschein) vom MRIA schon in 30 Minuten im Happy Banana... könnt mit den Touris aus Nah- und Fernost gleich ein erstes Carlsberg zwitschern und die Einreiseformalitäten werden auch im Zug erledigt - das spart Zeit. Wenn da nicht ein Haken an der Sache wäre: Denn Dank der strategisch hervorragend gewählten Haltestellen am GCC, Arunalu und beim Maumi dauert´s mit der Anreise (zumindest bei euch beiden) leider doch entsprechend länger und ihr taumelt sturzbetru.... und vollgefre.... im Rock House in die Betten... DANKE M.R.!!!

Allen die gerade ihre Koffer oder Rucksäcke packen trotzdem einen schönen Urlaub!!!

HamUna-SchoMaglev-Train.
Denn das Golden Coconut von Schorsch und Karin liegt doch auch auf dem Weg,als idealer Start für unser erstes Carlsberg.
Dann ins Arunalu und zu Maumi in die Villa Sunshine.

Trotzdem bleibt das Problem der Vögel, welche natürlich vorher nicht dort entlang flogen. Lächerlich........
Nachdem man die Wasserlöcher einfach zugeschüttet hat, werden derzeit alle möglichen Pfanzen gerupft, die den Vögeln als Nahrung dienen könnten. Das die Vögel trotzdem Tag für Tag die selben Routen fliegen, scheint egal zu sein.
Inzwischen gibt es immer mehr Kritik zum Standort des Flughafens in den Medien.

It is indeed sad that the people are fed a heap of stupid, ridiculous and foolish jargon, for the sake of justifying the castle-in-the-sky fancies of high-flying VVIPs pursuing grandiose plans that are unnecessary if not counter-productive.

Fakt ist aber auch, dass auch z.B. in Frankfurt am Airport Jäger unterwegs sind, dort den Flugraum Vogelfrei zu halten. Nur fliegen in Frankfurt nicht 1 - 2 Flugzeuge / Tag, sondern hunderte Flieger. Da passt halt die Quote vom neuen Airport in SL nicht wirklich............

No surveillance at Mattala, BIA’s arrival lounge

Customs lowers guard on bio – pirates, archeological thieves

A dearth of personnel at the Bio Diversity, Cultural and National Heritage Protection Division of the Sri Lanka Customs has left the newly constructed Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport and the arrivals lounge of the Bandaranaike International Airport without bio – diversity smuggling surveillance.

A senior custom official told The Island yesterday that currently, bio – diversity smuggling surveillance was being carried out only at the departure lounge and cargo terminal of the BIA and the Colombo port.

Betrachtet man die dort ungeahnten Möglichkeiten, sollte man wirklich zügig aufrüsten, denn ..........

The Customs’ 24–hour bio diversity surveillance unit at the BIA’s departures lounge last week had detected 323 Kg of Kothala Himbutu being smuggled out to Japan, he said, adding that however sometimes it was very difficult for one officer to handle all the consignments.

323 kg ? Das kann doch eigentlich nur per Fracht passiert sein, oder ?

Das neue Ground Services Betriebsgebäude von SriLankan wurde am Freitag eröffnet. Dort soll in Zukunft die Abfertigung der Fluggäste von Srilankan, sowie der Umschlag von Gütern erfolgen. Auch wurden neue Restaurants eröffnet.

Nun fehlen nur noch die Fluggäste, oder ?

Jetzt begehen die Affen auch noch Selbstmord und legen damit den neuen Airport lahm - ungewollt.

Mattala As A Metaphor For Sri Lanka’s Predicament

Not so long ago, when the power lines serving our neck of the woods were installed, the electricity didn’t flow along the (un-insulated) cables for quite a while because the political-powers-that-be, while they weren’t waiting upon an astrologer’s prediction to throw the switch, had to try and milk some partisan political benefit from it by tying it in to an upcoming election. In the interim, the monkeys in the neighbourhood discovered that, not only did this provide a highway for their peregrinations, it also lent itself to fun and frolic on “the high wire!”
Alas, the day did arrive when the power was turned on! What ensued was random interruptions of electricity supply (fortunately during the daylight hours only), each time a macaque chose to commit (unwitting) suicide using what was meant to be our power supply! Every occasion of such hara kiri was accompanied by a loud “pop” and the power going off until someone from the Ceylon Electricity Board arrived to turn the “breaker” back on. Thankfully, this state of affairs has, to a large extent, abated as the monkeys wise up to their new existential
reality!

A website called airlineroute.net reported that Air Arabia has cancelled its flights to MRIA from May. When queried, Nawaloka Aviation Pvt Ltd General Manger, Ramly Vilcassim, General Sales Agent (GSA) for Air Arabia in Sri Lanka, told Mirror Online that Air Arabia is operating at MRIA without any disruptions.

Air Arabia has cancelled Sharjah – Mattala/Hambantota route, just 6 weeks after it became the first foreign carrier to operate the newest International airport in Sri Lanka. The airline previously operated twice weekly service.

Auf der Webseite von der Fluggesellschaft "Air Arabia" kann man derzeit wirklich keine aktuellen Flüge vom SHJ zum MRIA buchen, wie auf der Webseite der Airline ersichtlich ist.

Although we are opening the Mattala Rajapakse International Airport we will not be shutting down Katunayake Bandaranayake International Airport says Civil Aviation Services Minister Priyankara Jayarathne, we totally reject any statements made by anybody regarding this he further said.

The minister made these comments during a visit to the Mattala airport with representatives of the press, he said they plan to complete the second stage of the Katunayake airport by 2015 including the widening of the runway. In 2012 the Katunayake Airport saw 7.2 million passengers, we hope to make this between 9-10 million by 2020, we also plan to use an additional 400 hectares for developing airport services and another 400 hectares for aviation related industries, we hope to be able to handle over 45,000 metric tones of air freight.

6000 Passengers At Mattala


Seit der Eröffnung sind bereits 6.000 Personen über den neuen Airport abgefertigt worden. Stolze Zahl - zumindest auf den ersten Blick, denn rechnet man grob, kommt man auf ca. 110 Gäste / Tag.
rechnet man die Kosten allein für den Strom von 10 Mio. LKR pro Monat ..........

Derzeit steht man jedoch in Verhandlungen mit Emirates und Fly Dubai, um ausländische Fluggesellschaften nach Mattala zu bekommen.

"Aviation Minister Priyankara Jayaratne said the government had agreed to an open skies policy with Air Arabia and the airline has agreed to resume flights to Mattala. He said the CEO of Air Arabia will visit Sri Lanka on the 15th of this month for further discussions."

Sagt ja wohl alles. Verzweiflung pur in Colombo.
6.000 Passagiere bis heute, also ca 15 Flieger, die gelandet/gestartet sind.

Ich möchte nicht den Eindruck erwecken, dass ich den neuen Flughafen generell nur schlecht reden möchte. Ich sehe halt vor allem das einfache (und großteils arme) Volk auf Sri Lanka, dass nun auf Generationen den Chinesen die Schulden für diesen - zumindest bis dato unsinnigen - Flughafen in Form von Steuern, Abgaben, billiger Arbeitskraft etc. zurückzahlen darf.

Evtl. gibt es ja in einigen Tagen mehr Flugbetrieb.

Am BIA wird eine Landebahn erneuert und man versucht die Instandsetzung ausserhalb der Stosszeiten im Flugbetrieb - also Nachts und am frühen Morgen.

He added that no flights will be diverted to the Mattala Rajapaksa International Airport (MRIA), as the BIA slots cannot land or take off from Mattala.
